MENTORING PROGRAMME

As part of KYC's Service Plan and drive to provide more specific and relevant services for the young people who engage with KYC; we are piloting a new Mentoring project this term.

The launch date for the pilot is February 2011. We have 16 young people willing to be mentored. These young people represent a cross reference of users at KYC. these young people will enable KYC to make any necessary improvements to the mentoring programme before it is rolled out to all users in May 2011.

Leading up to the start we will put in place appropriate administration structure which will include a ten point safety plan and a range of support partners for us to sign post our mentees to.

  • Mentors will meet with their mentees every other week but have a phone conversation each week.
  • Mentors will have a training session to cover the core components for the programme and what we expect of them.
  • Each mentee will be offered a three month programme which will be inline with the termly intakes during the school year.
