KYC Team Weekend

At the beginning of October 2010, the whole team at KYC (including Management) descended on Woodrow High House for our annual weekend away.

The weekend focused on how we can enable every young person we have contact with to be lifted and have higher prospects. The team spent some time unpacking this aim and came up with a range of changes to how we work with young people and a spectrum of accreditations which KYC can deliver with the young people.

The weekend focused on having fun, developing our collective and individual strengths and planning for 2010. The team also had opportunity to access the range of resources at Woodrow including a competitive game of footy between the under 20's and 'oldies'. Pleased to say that the oldies scraped a win for the second consecutive year.

The Apprentice Youth Workers also hosted the 'TYLAP's Got Talent' on Saturday night. An ecclectic mix of singing, dancing, juggling, storytelling, comedy and poetry kept the crowd entertained.

The weekend culminated in a mass team affirmation exercise which included the teams being dedicated for the coming twelve months.

Developing positive community

KYC alongside New Park Road Baptist Church and Urban Sport Foundation have been approached by Clapham Park Homes to develop and deliver a service which addresses the level of anti social and neagtive behaviour being manifested by a number of young people who live in Clapham Park Estate.

The programme will deliver a number of initiatives including one to one sessions, group work, sports and trips. The programme is quite intense and will initially last for the next six weeks or so (depending on funding).
